Measure
Maintain the emissions inventory and evidence behind it.
PB Energy can help suppliers prepare and maintain Carbon Reduction Plans aligned with the current PPN 006 technical standard and the underlying greenhouse-gas evidence.
PPN 006 applies to in-scope central government organisations when procuring relevant goods, services or works contracts with an estimated value above £5 million per year including VAT, where the requirement is relevant and proportionate. Bidders can be required to provide a compliant Carbon Reduction Plan.
A compliant plan includes a current emissions footprint, the organisation’s commitment to achieving Net Zero and the environmental management measures being used to reduce emissions. The technical standard sets out the required treatment of Scope 1, Scope 2 and specified Scope 3 categories, together with publication and approval expectations.
Smaller organisations can still encounter carbon-data requests as subcontractors or suppliers to larger bidders. A proportionate baseline and reduction plan can reduce the effort required when customers ask for evidence during tendering or supplier onboarding.
The strongest approach is to make the annual update part of the organisation’s normal carbon-reporting cycle so the figures, methodology and reduction measures remain consistent.
Maintain the emissions inventory and evidence behind it.
Track measures that have been implemented and what is planned next.
Keep the plan approved, accessible and ready for procurement checks.
