Electrical installation
PV electrical work is designed and installed to the current requirements of BS 7671, including the provisions for solar PV power-supply systems.
PB Energy supports commercial solar PV from feasibility and grid connection through detailed design, installation, commissioning, monitoring and long-term maintenance.
A commercially useful PV design should reflect how and when the site consumes electricity, the available roof or land, export constraints, the electrical infrastructure and the organisation’s investment priorities. We use those inputs to develop a system that is technically deliverable and commercially understandable.
Commercial projects often require a formal Distribution Network Operator assessment. Depending on system size, existing generation and export arrangements, Engineering Recommendations G98, G99 and G100 may be relevant. We consider connection requirements early so the proposed system is designed around the site’s real network constraints.
We explain the assumptions behind the model: expected annual generation, on-site use, export, degradation, tariff inputs and the effect of operating hours. The result should be a decision-making tool rather than simply a headline payback number.
Requirements vary by project, but commercial PV commonly brings together electrical, grid-connection, construction and product standards.
PV electrical work is designed and installed to the current requirements of BS 7671, including the provisions for solar PV power-supply systems.
For projects within MCS scope, work can be delivered in accordance with the current MCS solar PV installer standard and the IET Code of Practice for Grid Connected Solar Photovoltaic Systems.
The connection route is determined by the generating equipment, aggregate output and export arrangements. Non-domestic projects are coordinated with the relevant DNO.
Commercial projects are planned around relevant construction duties and the Electricity at Work Regulations, including safe design, installation, operation and maintenance.
Standards and regulations are applied according to the specific project, system size, location and building. MCS and NICEIC accreditations used for PB Energy installation work are held by P Bradshaw.
